A drone crashed near a military airfield in Germany
Debris of a drone was found near the German city of Hanover, the NDR broadcasting company reported.
The drone fragments were discovered near Lake Steinhude. The police were informed about this on September 14. Currently, they are searching for other parts of the drone, which requires inspecting a large uninhabited area.
According to Bild, the crash site of the drone is located just one kilometer from the Wunstorf military airfield. It is unknown who owns the drone. The police are also trying to determine why the drone flew into this specific area.
The Wunstorf military airfield houses the German Air Force's A400M military transport aircraft.
The device was found near a Ukrainian An-124 transport aircraft loaded with ammunition. It was later revealed that there were several drones. On September 1, the German government officially accused Russia of attempting sabotage at the airport. Moscow denies these allegations.
A Polish military representative stated that the drone might have drifted in from international waters.
