Under the new procedure in the "Initiative Budget," deputies have declared 346 projects as additional winners
However, the selection process in the "Initiative Budget" did not end there. Now it is the deputies' turn.
There is an important innovation in this season's process: deputies can now select not just one, but several projects as additional winners within the allocated funds.
This opportunity was established by the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated June 29 of this year. According to the previous procedure, in each season, a deputy could select only one project that did not win the voting as an additional winner. Now, there is an opportunity to support projects aimed at solving several important problems in one constituency at the same time.
From now on, the issue is not limited only to the question of "which project received more votes?". In other words, if there are several important problems in a constituency, the deputy is not limited to choosing only one of them. If the allocated funds allow, they can also support projects aimed at solving problems in several areas.
From September 2 to 6 of this year, deputies of the Legislative Chamber visited their constituencies, got acquainted with the projects that did not win the voting, met with the population, and studied which initiatives deserved additional support.
According to the results of the process, deputies declared a total of 346 projects as additional winners. 240.3 billion soums will be directed to their implementation. The projects covered 343 neighborhoods (mahallas) in 145 districts and cities.
The practical results of the new procedure are also noteworthy. While 93 out of 149 deputies directed the allocated funds to one large project, 56 of them distributed it among several projects. For example, Dilnoza Azizova supported 17 projects, Jasurbek Shodiyev 12, Zebiniso Rahmonova 10, Goʻzal Samiyeva 9, Firdavs Sharipov 8, Odiljon Tojiyev 8, and Abdullo Aslonov 7 projects.
The selected initiatives mainly relate to issues that directly affect people's daily lives: roads, electricity, drinking water, neighborhood infrastructure, children's and sports playgrounds.
The figures also confirm this. Out of 346 projects, 119 are aimed at repairing internal roads, with 41 percent of the total funds — 98.9 billion soums — directed to them; as a result, a total of 156.8 kilometers of roads will be asphalted. 92 projects were selected for electricity supply and street lighting, 54 for general education schools and preschool education institutions, 20 for children's playgrounds, 14 for healthcare institutions, and 13 for drinking water.
