Turkmenistan approves new migration service facilities in Dashoguz and Mary regions

Turkmenistan has approved new State Migration Service facilities in the Dashoguz and Mary regions, including an office building in Dashoguz and both an office building and staff housing in Yoloten district.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed off on the decision at a meeting of the State Security Council, where the country’s military and law enforcement bodies reviewed their work over the first eight months of 2026. The proposal was put forward by Amanmuhammed Sazakov, Chairman of the State Migration Service, as part of his report on the agency’s activities since the start of the year. He also outlined steps aimed at improving the service’s operations and introducing digital technologies and advanced practices.

According to the president’s decision, the State Migration Service will build an administrative facility for its Dashoguz regional department, while the Yoloten district department under the Mary regional administration will receive an administrative building and a service residential facility.

Berdimuhamedov also told the head of the State Migration Service to continue prioritizing the modernization of migration services through digital systems and the professional training of the agency’s personnel. The decision was made as Yoloten district is seeing wider infrastructure development. In April, Turkmenistan approved plans for a new modern settlement in the Ymambaba rural council area of Yoloten district. The project is designed for 4,500 households and is set to be carried out in phases from 2026 to 2030.

The new settlement is part of a broader regional development program and is expected to include residential and social infrastructure. The government has said the project is intended to improve living standards and support the socioeconomic development of the region.

Yoloten is also close to the Galkynysh gas field, one of Turkmenistan’s key natural gas assets. The field is being further developed as the country works to increase its gas production capacity.

Earlier, Turkmenistan announced the creation of 1,041 jobs as part of the fourth phase of development at the Galkynysh field, one of the world’s largest natural gas fields. The fourth phase started on April 17, 2026, and is being carried out jointly with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The project is part of Turkmenistan’s wider plans to raise gas output and build infrastructure supporting the country’s natural gas sector.
