Turkey's TV series "Olis shahar" (Far City) and "Leyla" have been nominated for the International Emmy Awards

On November 23, 2026, the International Emmy Awards ceremony will be held in the USA. This time, dizi fans will follow the event even more closely, as two Turkish TV series have entered the list at once and will compete for the best telenovella.

The "International Emmy" nomination is a competition for projects filmed outside the United States.

The list includes projects of the "Ay Yapim" production company, both of which are adaptations based on popular TV series in other countries. The first nominee is the dizi "Olis shahar", whose plot is based on the famous Lebanese drama "Al-Hayba", and the second is the TV series "Leyla", filmed on the basis of the famous "Avenida Brasil" project.

Since there are four finalists in the category, "Olis shahar" and "Leyla" will compete for the victory with the Brazilian TV series "Garota do Momento" (Girl of the Moment) and the second season of the Spanish TV series "Valle Salvaje" (Wild Valley).

This is not the first nomination at the International Emmy Awards for the "Ay Yapim" production company. In 2023, their TV series "Yargi" was shortlisted, after which the project team returned with a well-deserved victory. In addition, last year, when the TV series "Deha" starring Aras Bulut Iynemli won the statuette, the victory went to them again.

"Olis shahar" has been broadcasting on screens since November 2024. During this time, the project managed to break several rating records and became one of the most discussed Turkish TV series in recent years.

Now, viewers around the world are closely watching how the events will unfold in the third season of the project after Aliya's departure to Budapest, Shahin's death, and Sadokat's shot at Boran.

The TV series "Leyla" starring Alperen Duymaz and Jemre Baysel aired on screens from September 11, 2024, to August 6, 2025.

On screen, the talented performance of Gonja Vuslateri (Nur), Leyla's stepmother and Jivan's mother, was particularly noted by many. Often, the scenes with her participation even overshadowed the scenes involving the main character of the project, and during the broadcast of the series, rumors spread about the actress's inability to get along with Jemre Baysel.
