Following the results of the first eight months of 2026, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia grew by 10%. This was announced at the 27th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, which took place on October 6 in Fergana.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia increased by 10% in the first eight months of 2026.

The Uzbek delegation at the meeting was led by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev, while the Russian delegation was headed by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.

Opening the meeting, Jamshid Khodjayev emphasized that since the commission's previous meeting, the agenda of Uzbek-Russian cooperation has expanded significantly, and the Intergovernmental Commission mechanism itself plays a key role in the practical implementation of the agreements reached by the heads of the two states.

"Our task is to ensure the timely execution of projects and to agree on decisions on issues requiring joint action. Our economies complement each other well, and this is one of the main pillars of our trade partnership," Khodjayev noted.

The implementation of joint projects was also reviewed during the meeting. In 2026, it is planned to launch 17 joint projects with a total value of 350 million dollars in the chemical industry, agro-processing, and metalworking.

Special attention was paid to energy cooperation, including the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Jizzakh region, the training of national personnel, and the localization of equipment and services.

In addition, the parties noted the positive dynamics of tourist exchanges. In 2025, nearly 1 million Russian tourists visited Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, the Protocol of the 27th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of Russia and Uzbekistan for 2026–2040 were signed.

The parties confirmed their readiness to continue the practical implementation of joint projects and further strengthen the Uzbek-Russian strategic partnership. In 2027, the countries will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
