Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to accelerate agricultural projects

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan intend to accelerate joint agricultural projects.
During the visit of Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan J. Abduzuhurov to Tajikistan, where he participated in the Food Industry Forum and the international exhibition "UPAK EXPO 2026," the parties reached an agreement to accelerate the implementation of joint initiatives in cotton, grain, and other agricultural areas.
At the opening of the forum and plenary session, J. Abduzuhurov presented information on measures taken in Uzbekistan to develop agricultural processing, agrologistics, and modern packaging infrastructure, as well as attracting investment in this sector.
Discussion participants discussed issues of agricultural processing and export, food security, and expanding international cooperation.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan met with Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan Bahromjon Rajab Akhmadzoda. The parties reviewed the current status of projects being implemented by the two countries in cotton, grain, and other agricultural sectors.
Following the meeting, it was decided to expedite the implementation of ongoing projects, ensure coordination of their implementation, and strengthen direct working ties between the responsible agencies of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Furthermore, J. Abduzuhurov toured the UPAK EXPO 2026 international exhibition, where Uzbek companies CITRIC.UZ, EUROSNAB, PLAST TECH SOLUTION (FOOD PACK), ASIA PACK, and STAR CUP showcased their products.
The purpose of the visit was to expand cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in agriculture, food processing, and exports through the implementation of practical projects.
