The Uzbek presidential administration has received new powers to oversee government agencies.

The Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan has been granted expanded powers to oversee the activities of government agencies, Podrobno.uz news agency reported from Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

According to Article 7 of the new law on the Presidential Administration, the agency now has the right to issue mandatory instructions to government agencies, monitor the implementation of decisions by the head of state, and initiate disciplinary action against officials, including dismissal.

Furthermore, the Administration has been granted the ability to independently draft decrees, resolutions, and orders of the president, as well as orders of the head of the Administration. Its responsibilities also include the finalization of draft laws and documents of the president and the Cabinet of Ministers submitted for review in accordance with established procedures.

To study current issues of the country's socioeconomic and sociopolitical development, the Administration may form working commissions and groups, which may include heads of government agencies and organizations, including khokims.

One of the key areas of the Administration's activities will be the coordination and oversight of government agencies and organizations directly subordinate to or accountable to the President, as well as structures under the President and the Administration itself.

The heads of government agencies will be required to comply with the instructions and orders of the Administration and provide detailed reports on their implementation. The Administration is also authorized to conduct inspections of government agencies' compliance with laws, decrees, resolutions, and orders of the President and the Head of the Administration.

If violations or deficiencies are identified during inspections, the relevant materials may be sent to the heads of agencies for correction. The Administration will also have the right to evaluate the performance of officials and initiate disciplinary action, including dismissal, for failure to perform or improper performance of their duties.

To fulfill its functions, the Administration may request necessary documents and information from government agencies, as well as access their information systems, databases, and archives.

Its powers also include engaging government agency specialists in the preparation of analytical materials and draft regulatory legal acts, coordinating the work of internal control and anti-corruption departments, and independently selecting government agency employees to serve in the Administration.

Separate regulations govern handling of appeals from citizens and legal entities, including through the Presidential People's Reception Offices, and reviewing candidates for state awards.

Furthermore, the Administration will be able to establish special procedures for the storage and use of archival information and information constituting state secrets necessary for the performance of its tasks, and monitor compliance with confidentiality.

This list of powers is not exhaustive; the Administration will also be able to perform other functions provided for by law.
