The FIFA U-20 World Cup, co-hosted by Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, will take place from September 17 to October 9, 2027. This was announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino on his official page.

“I am pleased to announce that the FIFA U-20 World Cup will take place from September 17 to October 9, 2027! Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are ready to welcome the world's best young football players as hosts,” Infantino said.

The head of FIFA also wished success to the participants of the tournament.

As a reminder, in July 2025, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan submitted a joint bid to host the U-20 World Cup. The bid was approved at a FIFA meeting on October 2.

On December 15, 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved a program of measures to prepare for and hold this competition. According to it, the organizing committee of the championship will be headed by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

A separate bus route from Tashkent to New Tashkent is planned. Buses and the metro will provide free service to everyone who has accreditation and a ticket to the games.

By decision, the opening of FIFA's regional office for Central Asian countries in Tashkent was approved (these plans were announced in September). FIFA will cover its maintenance costs, while the Fund for Support of Uzbek Football will contribute up to 50%. The costs of repairing and equipping the building will be covered by the Reconstruction and Development Fund of Uzbekistan.

The document stipulates an obligation to develop and organize a nationwide tour to introduce the public to the main trophy of the World Cup — the World Cup Trophy.

Some matches will take place at the 55,000-seat New Tashkent Central Football Stadium, which is currently under construction.
