The Tashkent Metro reported when five-car trains will appear in the subway

Tashkent Metro Has Announced When Five-Car Trains Will Appear in the Underground

Information circulating on social media stating that five-car trains will be launched in the Tashkent Metro by November 20 is not true. There are plans to convert 54 trainsets — which accounts for 80% of existing trains — to the new configuration by September 2027.

The Tashkent Metro explained that the primary focus is currently on reducing headway intervals. Taking into account the high passenger flow, additional reserve trainsets are being gradually deployed onto the lines to bring the average train waiting time down to 2–3 minutes.

At the same time, the metro system, together with the Ministry of Transport and the Tashkent City Kengash, is preparing for the transition to five-car trainsets. The concept for procuring additional cars has already been developed.

The launch timeline depends on the production, purchase, and delivery of rolling stock to the capital, as well as the resolution of organizational issues. Therefore, the mass transition to the five-car configuration is expected no earlier than September 2027.

The metro administration urged residents to rely on official announcements and refrain from spreading unverified information.

The day before, the "Choshtepa" railway station began operations in Tashkent, connecting suburban electric trains with the metro and buses. Now, passengers heading to Syrdarya, Gulistan, Khavast, and Bekabad can transfer to the suburban train without traveling all the way to the South Railway Station.
