Service duration for book-reading soldiers may be reduced by one month

At the meeting of the Lower House of Parliament, a draft law on introducing amendments and additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On General Military Duty and Military Service," aimed at improving the procedure for performing military service, is being considered in the first reading.

The draft law is aimed at increasing the prestige and attractiveness of performing military service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, training qualified military personnel, and effectively utilizing their potential.

The document proposes to establish legal grounds for concluding a new contract with graduates of higher military educational institutions, as well as foreign higher military educational institutions specializing in pilot training.

Additionally, an addition is envisaged providing for a one-month reduction in the service duration of conscripts who achieve high results in the national book-reading competition.

As emphasized during the discussion, this incentive measure will serve to broadly promote book reading and reading culture among military personnel, as well as enhance their spiritual and intellectual potential.
