Samarkand flatbread registered as a trademark

Samarkand bread has been registered as a trademark in Uzbekistan. Previously, in February 2025, it was granted the status of a geographical indication.

The trademark registration will make it possible to provide legal protection for the product's name.

The certificate is issued for 10 years in accordance with the Law "On Trademarks, Service Marks, and Appellations of Origin of Goods."

An application for trademark registration can be submitted via the Ministry of Justice website im.adliya.uz.

Earlier, on February 4, 2025, Samarkand bread was entered into the State Register of Geographical Indications of Uzbekistan. On February 5, Minister of Justice Akbar Toshkulov presented the relevant certificate to the Acting Khokim of Samarkand Region, Adiz Boboev.

According to the legislation, a geographical indication identifies a good as originating from a specific territory if its quality, reputation, or other characteristics are significantly linked to its place of origin.
