In Kazakhstan, the scope of functional duties of the Vice President has been defined. President Tokayev signed a decree granting new powers to the Republic's Vice President, Erlan Karin. The document details his responsibilities and allocates specific administrative resources for their execution, according to the press service of the head of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the decree, the Vice President will participate in developing strategic directions for both domestic and foreign policy, as well as submit relevant initiatives to the President.
In addition, he will receive the authority to represent the President's interests in interactions with the Kurultai (parliament), the government, other state structures, political parties, public organizations, and international bodies. Furthermore, the Vice President will be able to act as an official representative of Kazakhstan on the international stage.
The Vice President will be responsible for expert, public, and humanitarian policy. His duties will include leading the secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, as well as monitoring the activities of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President.
He has been tasked with overseeing the work of several commissions and advisory bodies at once. Among them are the commissions on state awards, citizenship, state symbols and heraldry, study abroad, the al-Farabi and Abai state prizes, as well as the Council on Youth Policy.
The Vice President has been granted the right to issue orders and give instructions to central and local executive authorities within his competence.
He will also be able to participate in meetings of the Kurultai, the government, the People's Council, and other consultative and advisory structures under the President. He is authorized to request documents and information from state bodies and officials. In addition, he will be able to establish interdepartmental working groups to prepare draft presidential decrees.
The work of the Vice President will be supported by the Presidential Administration, including organizational and legal support, information and analytical support, and other necessary functions.
