Regional Commandant Promoted to General
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has awarded the Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of Karakalpakstan, Amanbay Orynbayev, the special rank of Major General. This became known following a meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of Karakalpakstan.
The rank was awarded in recognition of Orynbayev's many years of service in the internal affairs system, as well as his contribution to the development of Karakalpakstan, ensuring the well-being, security, and peaceful life of the population, and preserving and strengthening mutual respect, unity, and harmony in society.
In 2016–2017, Amanbay Orynbayev headed the Nukus City Internal Affairs Department. From May 2017, he led the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Karakalpakstan, and from March 2019 to February 2020, he held the post of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Karakalpakstan for Public Order Protection.
Over the next two years, Orynbayev worked as the First Deputy Chief of the Public Order Protection Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan. In March 2022, he was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Karakalpakstan.
Following the July 2022 events in Nukus, Orynbayev left the post of head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Karakalpakstan and was appointed First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the republic for ecology and development of the Aral Sea region.
In August 2022, he was confirmed as Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of Karakalpakstan. In this post, Orynbayev succeeded Murat Kamalov, who had submitted a request to be relieved of his duties due to health reasons.
