The Rabat hydroelectric power station in Kashkadarya has begun generating power.

The Rabat hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 6.2 MW has opened in the Shakhrisabz region, which will produce 26.2 million kWh of electricity annually.

The Rabat Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) in the Kashkadarya Region has begun generating electricity.

On August 26, the 6.2 MW Rabat Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) was officially opened in the Shakhrisabz District of the Kashkadarya Region. According to Uzbekhydroenergo JSC, this plant, built by the same company, will generate an average of 26.2 million kWh of electricity annually. This is enough to meet the needs of nearly 11,000 households.

Representatives of the Shakhrisabz District Khokimiyat, Uzbekhydroenergo management, representatives of regional industry companies, contractors and construction organizations, energy experts, local public figures, and journalists attended the opening ceremony.

The Rabat HPP project was implemented with the aim of increasing generating capacity, stimulating the socioeconomic development of the Shakhrisabz District, and improving the population's standard of living.

The plant's operation is expected to save 8 million cubic meters of natural gas and 6,700 tons of coal annually. Furthermore, its commissioning should reduce harmful emissions and increase the share of renewable energy sources in the overall energy mix.

The Rabat HPP was constructed in accordance with Presidential Decree No. PP-163. The total investment for the construction of the Rabat, Chappasu, and Tamshush HPPs in the Kashkadarya region is $69.5 million. Of this amount, $20.4 million was allocated directly to the Rabat HPP.

As part of the same investment project, two more hydroelectric power plants—Chappasu and Tamshush—are planned for commissioning in the Kashkadarya region. Their launch is intended to expand the region's hydroelectric potential and increase electricity production from renewable sources.

Uzbekhydroenergo emphasizes that the implementation of new facilities is also aimed at increasing the efficiency of hydropower resource use and ensuring the stable satisfaction of growing electricity demand.
