New wind power plant launched in Charvak

A 20 MW wind power plant has begun operations in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region. The press service of the Ministry of Energy reported this.

The opening ceremony of the plant was held on August 20. The event was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yu Jun, as well as representatives of regional and district khokimiyats, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Uzbekhydroenergo, energy and construction enterprises.

China allocated a gratuitous grant of $ 28 million for the implementation of the project. Within the framework of this amount, 4 modern wind turbines with a capacity of 5 MW each were installed.

The total capacity of the plant is 20 MW, and it is capable of generating up to 50 million kWh of environmentally friendly electricity per year. This will serve to meet the electricity needs of about 20 thousand households and strengthen the stability of the country's energy system. Also, the plant's operation will save hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of natural gas annually and significantly reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere.

The construction of this wind power plant began in July 2025. For this, 10 hectares of land were allocated by the resolution of the Tashkent regional governor.
