A 20 MW wind farm has been commissioned in the Tashkent region.
On August 20, the Charvak Wind Farm was launched in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region. This project, supported by the Chinese government, received a $28 million grant, according to Uzbekhydroenergo JSC.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan Yu Jun, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and executives and employees of energy and construction companies. Also present were representatives of Uzbekhydroenergo, the khokimiyats of the Tashkent region and Bostanlyk district, local activists, and media representatives.
Four wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5 MW, were installed as part of the project. The plant's total installed capacity is 20 MW, and its annual electricity generation can reach 50 million kWh.
According to Uzbekhydroenergo, this volume is sufficient to supply electricity to nearly 20,000 households. The plant is also designed to reduce the load on existing power grids and improve the stability of the energy system.
During the project, all necessary construction and installation work was completed, the utility infrastructure was created, the plant was connected to the power grid, and modern wind turbines were installed.
This project is considered another successful outcome of cooperation between Uzbekistan and China. The Chinese side provided a grant of $28 million for its implementation.
The operation of the plant is expected to result in annual savings on natural gas and coal, as well as significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Uzbekhydroenergo associates this project with the development of environmentally sustainable energy and a reduction in the carbon footprint.
The ceremony also included the announcement of the results of the "Wind Power Plant Through the Eyes of Young Artists" competition. The work of graduates of the P. Benkov Republican Specialized Art School was recognized, and the winners and participants received certificates of honor and commemorative gifts from Uzbekhydroenergo.
The Charvak wind farm was commissioned on the eve of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's state independence.
