The procedure for forming tariffs on Uzbekistan Railways is being updated.
On August 20, 2026, the issues of developing a new tariff methodology for the railway sector were discussed at the "Uzbekistan Railways" Joint-Stock Company. The meeting was attended by international consultants with the participation of the World Bank, as well as specialists from relevant ministries and departments.
The discussion considered the final proposals for the new tariff methodology, which is being prepared by local experts involved with the support of the World Bank. According to the company, the methodology provides for the introduction of transparent mechanisms for forming prices for transport services, increasing the efficiency of infrastructure use, and creating favorable conditions for attracting foreign investment.
One of the main directions of the new methodology is the introduction of transparent mechanisms for forming prices for transport services. In this process, it is envisaged to develop a clear and understandable approach to setting tariffs. The document also pays special attention to increasing the efficiency of using railway infrastructure. Also, one of the goals of the methodology is to create favorable conditions for attracting foreign investment in the sector.
The company noted that the main goal of the new methodology is to transform the railway system into an economically independent and competitive system. Based on the proposals made at the end of the meeting, further practical steps were determined to improve the tariff methodology. The participants in the discussion set tasks for preparing the final version of the document.
