Uzbekistan is developing a new methodology for calculating railway tariffs.

An innovative methodology for setting railway tariffs is being developed in Uzbekistan. The goal of this innovation is to ensure greater transparency in calculating the cost of transport services, optimize the use of railway infrastructure, and create a favorable environment for attracting foreign investment.
Issues related to the new tariff system were the central topic of a working meeting held on August 20 at Uzbekistan Railways. International consultants working with the support of the World Bank, as well as representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, participated in the discussion.
At the meeting, final proposals for the methodology, prepared by experts with the assistance of the World Bank, were presented. Participants actively discussed the key principles of tariff setting, exchanging views on ways to improve their transparency and efficiency.
The development of this methodology is part of a large-scale reform of the railway industry. Its implementation is expected to strengthen the economic independence and competitiveness of the sector, as well as improve the investment climate.
Following the meeting, further steps for finalizing the document were outlined. The expert group plans to complete the methodology in the near future and submit it for approval.
