The procedure for compensating victims of accidents and disasters has been established

The procedure for assessing and compensating damage caused to the population as a result of man-made emergency situations has been established in Uzbekistan. It provides for a one-off material assistance of up to 500 BCU to the family members of deceased citizens, and from 100 to 200 BCU to those injured, depending on the severity of the injury.

Procedure established for compensating damage to victims of accidents and disasters

The regulation in this regard was approved by Government Decision No. 606 of November 3, 2026

The regulation covers cases such as transport accidents and crashes, emergency situations at chemically hazardous and fire-and-explosion risk facilities, accidents in energy and utility systems, and sudden collapses of building structures.

Victims must fill out an application in the prescribed form and submit it to the relevant commission within 30 days from the day the emergency occurred.

Until the perpetrators are determined by the court, the damage caused will be covered from a special fund under the relevant district or city khokimiyat. Payments will also be made from this fund in cases where legal entities or their officials found guilty are unable to fully compensate for the damage within the established timeframe.

Additionally, one-off financial assistance will be paid on the basis of the commission's report and decisions of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, khokims of the regions, and the city of Tashkent. This assistance will be provided at the expense of the legal entities or their officials found guilty.

The amounts of financial assistance are set as follows:

To family members of a deceased citizen - up to 500 times the BCA. The funds are distributed in equal shares among their spouse, children, parents, and dependents;

To citizens who sustained severe bodily injuries - up to 200 times the BCA;

To citizens who sustained moderately severe bodily injuries - up to 150 times the BCA;

To citizens who sustained light bodily injuries - up to 100 times the BCA.
