President visits the Koshmadrasah ensemble in Bukhara

Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Koshmadrasah ensemble in the city of Bukhara. This was reported by the president's press service.

The Abdullakhan Madrasah is one of the unique examples of 16th-century Uzbek architecture, built in 1588-1590 by Abdullakhan II, a ruler of the Shaybanid dynasty of the Khanate of Bukhara, one of the great commanders and statesmen.

The design and internal layout of the madrasah differ from traditional Bukhara madrasahs with complex engineering solutions. The main entrance part of the complex faces south and is decorated with geometric mosaics composed of blue tiles and glazed patterns.

Here, students were taught both religious and secular sciences. In particular, alongside the Quran, exegesis (tafsir), Hadith, jurisprudence (fiqh), and creed (aqoid), the Arabic language and literature, logic, philosophy, mathematics, geometry, and medicine were taught in depth.

On the southern side of the ensemble lies the Modarikhan Madrasah, built in 1566-1567 by Abdullakhan II in honor of his mother. The madrasahs were built opposite each other on a single axis.

The Koshmadrasah ensemble was partially restored in 2023-2024 within the framework of a project worth 6 billion soums. Currently, 1 million tourists visit this ensemble.

The President gave instructions to create even more favorable conditions for tourists.
