The President visited the Bahauddin Naqshband mausoleum in Bukhara
On November 3, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in the Bukhara region, where he will review the progress of creative works and the implementation of projects in various sectors of the economy. The first site of the visit was the mausoleum of Bahauddin Naqshband in the Kagan district.
At the complex, surahs from the Quran were recited and a dua was performed, wishing peace and prosperity to the people of Uzbekistan.
Khwaja Muhammad Bahauddin Naqshband was a 14th-century theologian and the founder of the Naqshbandi Sufi order. The architectural complex, which was formed around his mausoleum over centuries, is considered one of the revered shrines of the Islamic world.
On average, about 15,000 people visit the complex daily. It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the "Silk Roads: Zarafshan-Karakum Corridor" site.
In recent years, work has been carried out here to preserve the historical appearance of the complex and to create conditions for pilgrims. Based on 15th-century drawings, the madrasa of Daniyalbiy Atalyk and the Toki Miyona gates were restored. In addition, a museum exhibition and a research center have been organized.
Mirziyoyev noted the historical role of Bukhara in the development of enlightened Islam and emphasized the need for a deeper study of the region's spiritual heritage. According to him, this heritage should be used in educating the youth and introducing them to knowledge and enlightenment.
"The Center of Islamic Civilization, the complexes bearing the names of Imam Bukhari and Imam Maturidi — all of this serves a single goal: to continue the scientific heritage of our great ancestors and to educate the youth in this spirit," the president stated.
