At the meeting with the chess players, Shavkat Mirziyoyev particularly recognized the performances of Javokhir Sindarov, Mukhiddin Madaminov, and Shamsiddin Vokhidov at the Olympiad.
Addressing Javokhir Sindarov, the President recalled that his historic victory at the Candidates Tournament was celebrated a few months ago. It was noted that at the Olympiad, Javokhir Sindarov also demonstrated composure and stability, refusing to back down in the face of strong opponents.
"Now, another huge milestone lies ahead of you — the battle for the world crown. Today, standing behind you are not only your teammates and mentors, but also nearly forty million people of Uzbekistan. We believe in you!" said the head of state.
Mukhiddin Madaminov, participating in a major tournament for the first time, defeated Roman Dekhtiarov of Ukraine with the black pieces on the decisive day. His victory secured the necessary point for the team to win the gold medal. The President emphasized that his enthusiasm and victories have won a place in the hearts of the fans.
Shamsiddin Vokhidov also made a worthy contribution to the overall result. He demonstrated his potential by fighting on equal terms with the black pieces against the reigning world champion challenger Gukesh.
The President emphasized that the gold medal was won as a result of the hard work and contribution of every member of the team.
