Man Killed in Istanbul Brawl Identified as Turkmen Citizen

The man who died as a result of a conflict in a wedding hall in Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district was a citizen of Turkmenistan, not Uzbekistan.

This was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul following a verification of information previously circulated in the Turkish media.

According to the diplomatic mission, the deceased was 33-year-old Klych Buriev. Reports had previously appeared in the media regarding the death of a man after a brawl in one of Istanbul's wedding halls, which raised questions about his citizenship.

The Consulate General urged media representatives and social media users to take the established circumstances into account when preparing and disseminating materials about the incident.

The diplomatic mission also expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
