The number of foreign tourists visiting Bukhara is planned to be brought to 7 million

During his visit to the Bukhara region, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting dedicated to the issues of developing the regional economy and improving the living standards of the population.

The meeting also considered issues of increasing the tourism potential of the region. It was noted that the tourism season in Bukhara has extended from four to six months. The head of state emphasized the need to offer new events and tourism products to attract tourists during the remaining period of the year as well.

Next year, it is planned to hold about 30 international events in the region. However, currently there are no five-star hotels in Bukhara, and there is also a lack of large shopping and entertainment centers. The main portion of tourism services is concentrated in the city of Bukhara.

"The service offer does not match the demand," the president said.

In this regard, the need to develop accommodation, shopping, leisure, and travel services in the districts of the region as well was emphasized.

Officials were instructed to develop a month-by-month plan to bring the number of foreign tourists to 7 million. It should clearly specify from which countries tourists will be attracted, what new tour packages and events will be offered, and which facilities will be launched in the districts.

At the meeting, it was also announced that 3.5 million foreign tourists are expected to visit Bukhara this year, and the goal is to double their number in the future. In addition, it is planned to connect historical complexes such as the Old City, Yetti Pir, Chor Bakr, Poykent, Varakhsha, and Vardonze based on a single tourism concept.

A tourism center worth $80 million will be established on an area of 50 hectares in the Gulchorbog neighborhood of the city of Bukhara. An exhibition hall, an amphitheater, and hotels will be located there. In the Jalol Ikromiy neighborhood, a congress hall worth $60 million intended for international events is being built. Next to it, two seven-story hotels under the Hilton and Holiday Inn brands are being constructed.

In addition, it is planned to renovate eight central streets and build six avenues in the city of Bukhara. As part of expanding the regional center, it is also planned to build a $500 million tourism cluster on an area of 1,000 hectares in the Bukhara district. It was noted that thanks to this project, it will be possible to extend the average stay of tourists in Bukhara to 4–5 days.
