The number of births in Uzbekistan is projected to exceed 1.2 million by 2050. This was reported in the long-term forecast of the country's birth rate, published by the Family and Gender Research Institute. According to the results of the study, the number of births in Uzbekistan will continue to grow steadily in the coming years.

According to the forecasts, the number of babies born will reach the following indicators:

* In 2030 - 892.7 thousand;

* In 2040 - 1 million 16.1 thousand;

* In 2050 - 1 million 234.1 thousand.

Thus, by 2050, the birth rate is expected to increase by 354.5 thousand people or 40.3% compared to 2025.

Among the regions with the highest growth rates, Tashkent region (62 percent) and Tashkent city (61 percent) are leading. Andijan (48.6 percent), Samarkand (43.3 percent) and Namangan (42.4 percent) regions are next.

The total fertility rate is expected to decrease slightly in the medium term and then increase steadily. In particular, the indicator, which is expected to be 21.2 per thousand in 2030, will reach 21.9 per thousand by 2050. The highest coefficient by region is likely to be observed in Surkhandarya (24.7) and Kashkadarya (23.8) regions.

Experts say that this demographic growth will dramatically increase the need for education, healthcare, preschool education, housing, social services and labor market infrastructure in the future. By assessing these changes in advance, it will be possible to effectively allocate state resources and strategically plan investments in human capital.

Earlier, it was reported that in January-June 2026, 373,389 live births were registered in Uzbekistan. In 2025, 879,599 live births were registered in the country. During the year, 638 men over 60 years old became fathers, 48 of whom had children when they were over 70 years old.
