More boys born in Uzbekistan in six months
About 373.4 thousand live births were recorded in Uzbekistan in January-June 2026. Of the babies born, 192.9 thousand were boys and 180.5 thousand were girls.
In Uzbekistan, the number of boys born in the first half of this year exceeded that of girls.
According to the National Statistics Committee, a total of 373,389 live births were recorded in the country in the first six months of the year. Of these, 192.9 thousand (51.7 percent) were boys, and 180.5 thousand (48.3 percent) were girls.
Thus, during the reporting period, almost 12.4 thousand more boys were born in Uzbekistan than girls.
49 percent of births were recorded in cities, and 51 percent in rural areas.
In January-June, the country had 19.6 births per 1,000 population.
