The network of small and micro hydroelectric power plants will be expanded in Uzbekistan

Environmental and social requirements are mandatory in the design, construction and operation of small and micro hydropower plants.

It is planned to expand the network of small and micro hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in Uzbekistan.

According to Resolution No. PQ-298 of August 19 of this year, a digital platform will be created by February 1, 2027 to identify, implement, and coordinate the operation of potential small and micro hydroelectric power plants.

It was determined that environmental and social requirements must be taken into account when designing, constructing, and operating small and micro hydroelectric power plants.

In order to identify project initiators for the construction of small and micro hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of up to 5 MW, a procedure will be introduced to determine the lowest price along with the starting price for reducing the tariff for purchasing electricity generated at an electronic auction held on the “E-auction” electronic trading platform based on the order of the Ministry of Energy.

In this case, prices are set in relation to the tariff established for consumers of group II as follows:

Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, the training of highly qualified personnel for small-scale green energy, including small hydropower, in higher educational institutions will be introduced on the basis of a dual education system.
