The National Committee for Urbanization has spoken out in support of preserving Navruz Park

The National Committee for Urbanization and the Housing Market has issued a statement amid active discussions on social media regarding the construction of parking lots on the site of certain green zones in Tashkent and the auctioning of territories intended for the creation of public parks.

According to the committee, reducing existing green zones in the city center and constructing permanent structures on the site of public spaces designed for residents to walk and relax is categorically inappropriate. When creating parking lots, the reduction of green areas and the deterioration of conditions created for pedestrians should not be allowed.

The committee reported that on the land plot of one of the real estate properties belonging to Navruz Park, in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 83 dated February 28, 2026, the creation of a 1.6-hectare public park is planned in the Matonat mahalla of the Yunusabad district of Tashkent. In this territory, it is necessary to ensure the creation of a public park in accordance with the government decision and to use it exclusively for its intended purpose.

Earlier, it became known that as part of a new privatization program, the government put up for electronic auction two state-owned properties on Sharof Rashidov Street, which are registered as real estate of the Navruz Culture and Recreation Park. The properties are divided into two lots: the first plot, with an area of 2 hectares, has a starting price of 436.3 billion soums, while the second lot, with an area of 1.2 hectares, is listed at a starting price of about 223.9 billion soums.

The National Committee considers it necessary to prevent the reduction of green zones and to respect the interests of the capital's residents.
