The National Committee on Urbanization and Housing Market has reacted to reports about the construction of a parking lot in place of some green areas in Tashkent and the putting up for auction of areas planned for a public park.
The committee emphasized that reducing the existing green spaces in the city center and carrying out constructive construction in place of convenient public spaces for residents to walk and relax is absolutely inappropriate.
"In the creation of parking lots, the reduction of green areas and the deterioration of conditions created for pedestrians must not be allowed," the statement said.
It was also noted that in accordance with the government decision, it is necessary to ensure the creation of a public park on the land plot of one of the real estate objects belonging to the "Navruz" park.
The National Committee expressed its view that it is essential to prevent the reduction of existing green areas in Tashkent, to preserve the territory designated for the public park, to use it only for its designated purposes, and to ensure the interests of the population.
The Tashkent City Hokimiyat plans to build a parking lot on a 1.3-hectare land plot located behind the National Library named after Alisher Navoiy on the basis of a public-private partnership. A relevant decision of the Hokim of Tashkent city, Shavkat Umurzakov, has been adopted.
The land plot will be put up for electronic auction starting at 514 million soums. The private partner, who will acquire the land plot for a period of 10 years, will have to invest 10 billion soums.
According to the conditions, 15 percent of the fees to be collected from each car in the parking lot will be transferred to the public partner, and 5 percent to the operator of "Paid Parking".
As part of the new privatization program, the government has put up for sale two state-owned objects on Sharof Rashidov Street, Matonat neighborhood, Yunusabad district of Tashkent. These lands have been put up for electronic auction in two lots.
