The Ministry of Higher Education denied reports that instructions were given not to admit citizens of India and Bangladesh as students

Reports spread on social networks that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation had given oral instructions to state and non-state higher education organizations not to admit citizens of India and Bangladesh as students. The Ministry stated that this information does not correspond to reality.

It is reported that starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, the process of admitting foreign applicants to higher education organizations of Uzbekistan is being carried out through the single electronic platform "Study in Uzbekistan".

Through the platform, foreign applicants can obtain information about higher education organizations in Uzbekistan, educational programs, admission requirements, and tuition fees, submit documents electronically, and track the status of their application.

According to the Ministry, the main goal of the new system is to make the admission process even more open and transparent for foreign applicants, to free them from dependence on various intermediaries, and to create an opportunity for direct communication with higher education organizations. Registration on the platform is free, and the applicant can apply directly to the chosen higher education organization.

It was also noted that Uzbekistan is interested not in limiting, but in expanding the flow of foreign students. In this regard, the goal is to expand the geography of foreign students, promote Uzbekistan abroad as an attractive country for education, and sustainably develop education exports.

The volume of admission of foreign students is determined by each higher education organization based on its available capabilities. In this process, lecture halls, educational and laboratory facilities, the potential of professors and teachers, student accommodation, and other infrastructural capabilities are taken into account.

The Ministry recommended that foreign applicants use the official "Study in Uzbekistan" platform to study in Uzbekistan, obtain information on admission requirements directly from the chosen higher education organization, and avoid making unjustified payments to various intermediaries.

Foreign applicants who encounter problems during the admission process can report them through the official communication channels on the platform.
