Manchester City star eyes another club in potential scenario

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland would prefer a move to Barcelona rather than Arsenal if the club is relegated to a lower division for violating financial rules.

According to the source, Real Madrid is also closely monitoring the situation surrounding the 26-year-old forward. Based on available information, the prospect of playing for one of the two Spanish giants looks very attractive to Haaland.

It is noted that Haaland has been Barcelona's "dream" for several years. The club is ready to try to sign the forward as soon as there are signs of his desire to leave City.

At the current stage of his career, playing in La Liga could interest the forward.

In recent days, Manchester City has come under various allegations related to its financial activities between 2009/10 and 2017/18. An independent Premier League commission has found the club guilty of violating financial rules.

According to the commission, the club breached rules regarding certain sponsorship deals and financial reporting, and also failed to provide full and accurate financial information to the Premier League. Breaches of obligations to cooperate with the league during the investigation were also noted.

Manchester City, however, denies the allegations and has appealed the commission's decision. Therefore, no final sanction has been imposed on the club yet.

If serious punishment is ultimately applied to the club, the future of the players in its squad may also be discussed. According to Football Insider, in such a scenario, Erling Haaland may prefer a move to Barcelona.
