Spain's two major clubs, Barcelona and Real Madrid, are exploring the possibilities of signing Manchester City forward Erling Haaland in 2027.

The Norwegian forward signed a 9-year contract with the "Citizens" in early 2025. At that time, the club announced that all release clauses, i.e., buyout clauses from the previous agreement, had been canceled. Nevertheless, according to Spanish publications, certain options for a move to Spain still remain in Haaland's contract. Furthermore, City's management has promised that if the 25-year-old player wishes to move to a new team of his own accord, the club will not strongly oppose his departure and will assess the situation fairly.

Barcelona, having failed to complete the transfer of Julian Alvarez, has long aimed to add Haaland to their ranks. The Catalans intend to fully launch the new Camp Nou stadium, designed for over 100,000 fans, by 2027 and carry out this transfer using the large revenues generated from it. Real is also closely monitoring the situation, but since they have Kylian Mbappe in their attacking line, it remains a question of how well Haaland would fit into the team's tactical scheme and financial situation.

For reference, Erling Haaland has been representing the "Citizens" since 2022. He has appeared in a total of 204 matches for the club, recording 168 goals and 30 assists. The Transfermarkt portal values the forward's market value at 220 million euros.
