"The Korea Job" and a $2,000 fine. Why was Behzod Musayev dismissed?
A few days ago, Behzod Musayev was removed from the post of Director of the Migration Agency. This resignation took place against the backdrop of several sensational and corrupt scandals surrounding the agency. Muhsinxoʻja Abdurahmonov, who until then had been the ambassador to Japan, started working in his place. The "Korean Case" and a $2,000 Fine. Why Was Behzod Musayev Dismissed?
In May of this year, a major corruption scheme related to sending citizens to work in Korea was uncovered. According to the Department under the General Prosecutor's Office, an organized criminal group in the migration sector collected $7,000 to $12,000 from citizens, in addition to official fees, to send them to work in Korea. The accumulated funds are estimated at nearly $90 million.
Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that Aziz Toshtemirov, the former head of the Migration Agency's representative office in Korea, was placed on an international wanted list on suspicion of fraud.
Following this, he targeted the head of the agency, Behzod Musayev, and began publishing a series of "compromising materials" via the Korea24 Telegram channel, which was previously used for the Migration Agency's representative office in South Korea.
According to Toshtemirov, Musayev regularly demanded that he send premium-grade "marbled meat," expensive cosmetics, toothpastes, and branded goods. He also published correspondence showing that these instructions were given.
Another sensational part of the conflict involved allegations regarding a Hyundai Palisade car. Toshtemirov wrote that Musayev ordered him to purchase an expensive Hyundai Palisade car from Korea with a special sofa installed inside.
Another serious accusation relates to salaries being paid to employees who did not actually work at the Migration Agency. According to Toshtemirov, after Behzod Musayev became the head, Ataxanov Nabi Agzamovich and Djabarov Baxrom Saidaxmedovich were hired as drivers at the Migration Agency in November 2024.
It is noted that in March, one of these employees was accrued a salary of 44.4 million soums, and the other 46.5 million soums. Shortly after Toshtemirov wrote about this information, the Department under the General Prosecutor's Office announced that embezzlement of over 1 billion soums had been uncovered at the Migration Agency.
