The European Tramdriver Championship was held in Poland

The 12th European Tramdriver Championship — Tram-EM — took place in Warsaw. It was attended by 26 teams from various European cities, as well as from Melbourne, Australia.

The championship was organized on Marszałkowska Street in Warsaw, near the Palace of Culture and Science. The event was held on the occasion of Public Transport Day and was dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the tram network in the Polish capital.

Drivers competed in precision, speed, and braking skills while operating multi-ton trams. Each team consisted of two people — one female and one male driver.

One of the most interesting tasks was "tram bowling": in it, drivers rolled a large ball with the tram to knock down giant bowling pins placed ahead.

In addition, containers filled with water were placed on the trams to test how smoothly the drivers could operate them. In another challenge, the speedometer was covered, and drivers had to control the speed without looking at it.

The team from Prague won the competition.
