The destruction of Iran would have led to peace - Trump
Trump was asked how a man who calls himself a "peace president" could call for the destruction of an entire country.
"Because by destroying Iran, we would have achieved peace throughout the world. I don't think it is possible to make peace with Iran," he replied.
Donald Trump said that the duration of the operation against Iran was extended at his initiative.
"Just because I wanted to go further. I destroyed them. I could have stopped at that stage, but I wanted to push forward. I didn't need them — after all, I made it within the set deadline," said the American president. According to him, Iran's economy, navy, and military aviation have been destroyed, and inflation is "at 300 percent."
The US president also added that he rejected Iran's latest proposal for a peaceful settlement because some aspects of it were "not good enough." According to Axios, the meeting discussed a compromise proposed by Qatar — lifting the American naval blockade in exchange for Tehran limiting its nuclear program.
