**Iran sent a proposal to the US to end the war**

Iran has conveyed a peace proposal to the US through Qatar. This was announced by Mohsen Rezaee, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, to the Al Jazeera TV channel.

“We are in contact with the Qatari mediator. He conveyed our conditions for ending the war to Washington. Now we are waiting for President Trump's response on this matter,” he said.

The Iranian official added that the conditions include:

- cessation of hostilities on all fronts;

- unfreezing of frozen funds;

- lifting of the naval blockade.

Rezaee also noted that the actions of the US and Israel give Tehran grounds to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Nevertheless, Iran remains committed to the fatwa of the late supreme leader and has not changed its nuclear doctrine.

Back in June, the US and Iran signed a memorandum aimed at starting a peace process. However, three weeks later, the situation escalated again. Washington accused Tehran of firing on merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz. After that, the two sides began firing at each other again.

On August 20, Donald Trump announced the start of an economic offensive against Iran. He stressed that this would mean an unprecedented isolation of Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, meanwhile, assessed this statement as the US admitting its defeat in the war.

Earlier, Trump threatened to seize Iranian oil. He compared this to US efforts aimed at taking control of one-fifth of Venezuela's vast oil reserves.

“Eventually we will get out of Iran, unless we decide to stay and keep the oil, as happened in Venezuela,” Trump told reporters.
