The Deposit Guarantee Agency held an online meeting with representatives of the New Zealand deposit insurance system.
A videoconference was held between the Deposit Guarantee Agency and representatives of the Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS), New Zealand's deposit insurance system.
During the meeting, DCS representatives presented a presentation covering the system's operations, the process for compensatory payments to depositors in the event of a deposit insurance event, and the organization and management of this process.
In addition, DCS representatives discussed their work in public engagement, raising public awareness of the deposit insurance system and the organization's activities, and collaborating with stakeholders.
Agency representatives, in turn, shared information about their activities and accumulated experience. In particular, a real deposit insurance event that occurred in early 2026 after the revocation of a bank's banking license was examined in detail.
Information was also presented on the results of a public survey, methods for raising awareness, ongoing work on developing a communications strategy, and future plans for developing a depositor information system.
Following the meeting, both parties emphasized the value of dialogue for exchanging experiences and information, expressing their willingness to continue and develop cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS) is a deposit guarantee scheme administered by the Central Bank of New Zealand.
