The American blockbuster by the Russo brothers, "Avengers: Endgame," has become the highest-grossing film in cinema history.

According to Variety, a theatrical re-release in September brought the picture more than 126 million dollars, pushing its total box office receipts close to three billion dollars. The film was first released in 2019, and the current re-release allowed it to surpass James Cameron's "Avatar."

The sci-fi epic had held the lead for 10 consecutive years — since its premiere in 2009. "Spider-Man: A New Day" landed in third place on the list of highest-grossing films.
