Uzbekistan authorities expect to receive at least $1.2 billion from privatization
By the end of 2026, Uzbekistan authorities plan to raise at least 14 trillion soums, or about $1.2 billion, from the privatization of state property. They intend to offer shares in 84 companies, 1,242 real estate properties, and approximately 8,000 hectares of land at auction. The total value of these assets is estimated at approximately 100 trillion soums, or $8.4 billion.
This was announced by the Director of the State Assets Management Agency, Sokhibjon Murodov, summarizing the results of the agency's work for the nine months of 2026.
Among the largest completed transactions, he cited the sale of the state share in Coca-Cola Uzbekistan for $252 million, in Ferganaazot for $140 million, as well as a 75.2% state share in the Samarkand Automobile Plant for $80 million. These transactions are not included in the new privatization program through the end of the year.
In addition to selling shares in companies, the authorities intend to sell 1,242 real estate properties and about 8,000 hectares of land intended for entrepreneurial and urban development activities. Another 85 state-owned enterprises are planned for liquidation or reorganization.
Furthermore, 84 previously unsold assets with a starting price of 1 million soums will be re-auctioned.
Land has already brought in 4.7 trillion soums. Since the beginning of the year, 2,800 hectares of land have been sold to entrepreneurs across 11,796 lots for a total amount of 4.7 trillion soums.
Separately, more than 36.5 thousand land plots with a total area of 3,509 hectares, which were in the use of citizens and legal entities, were privatized.
To accelerate privatization, the authorities are revising the terms for purchasing state property. The initial down payment has been reduced from 35% to 15%, and the remaining amount is allowed to be paid in interest-free installments. Upon meeting the specified conditions, buyers can also receive a discount of up to 25%.
Based on the results of the nine months of 2026, the volume of privatization reached 26 trillion soums. During this period, state assets and land plots with a total value of 53.2 trillion soums were put up for auction.
