The Thai government has officially ended its 60-day visa-free travel for citizens of 93 countries, including Uzbekistan, according to the Bangkok Post, citing the Royal Gazette.
The decree, signed by Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Anuthin Chanvirakoon on August 31, will take effect on September 15, 2026, 15 days after its publication.
In May, the Thai Cabinet approved a reduction in the visa-free travel period amid growing concerns about abuses by foreign nationals. Authorities noted that foreigners entering Thailand under the guise of tourism were setting up illegal businesses, working without permits, or participating in transnational criminal schemes.
According to the new regulations, citizens of 60 countries will be able to enter Thailand visa-free for stays of up to 30 days. This list includes Australia, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Turkey, Ukraine, and Japan. Of the Central Asian countries, only Kyrgyzstan is included in this list.
Furthermore, citizens of these 60 countries are permitted to enter Thailand through land border crossings no more than twice per calendar year. An exception is made for citizens of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Citizens of Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Serbia will be able to obtain visas upon arrival.
Uzbekistan is not included in any of these lists. According to Uzbekistan Airways, citizens of Uzbekistan must obtain a visa in advance for tourist entry to Thailand starting September 15.
Visa applications can be submitted before departure, including through the official portal thaievisa.go.th. The visa fee is paid in US dollars at the nearest Thai consulate.
The airline clarified that passengers on flight HY531, which departs Tashkent on September 14 but arrives in Bangkok on September 15, are already subject to new visa requirements.
