Tashkent Metro fleet to be replenished with 14 new trainsets
The Tashkent Metro continues to renew its rolling stock amid growing passenger traffic. While 40 trainsets operated on the lines until 2021, their number has now reached 55. In 2027, it is planned to acquire another 14 modern five-car trains.
This was announced at a press conference dedicated to the development of the capital's metro system.
The need to renew the rolling stock is linked, among other things, to the increase in the number of passengers. In 2021, the metro carried an average of 280–300 thousand people per day, whereas in 2026 this figure exceeded 1.2 million.
The purchase of additional trains will make it possible to improve the quality of passenger service, enhance travel comfort, and continue reducing headways on the lines.
It was previously reported that on the Chilonzor line, the headway between trains was reduced from five to 1.5–2 minutes, on the O'zbekiston line — from six to three minutes, and on the Yunusobod line — from 11 to four minutes.
It was previously reported that by 2030, the Tashkent Metro plans to expand its network to 79 stations, increase the length of its lines to 103 kilometers, and boost daily passenger traffic to 1.8 million people.
