Tashkent, Uzbekistan, has been chosen to host the 2027 Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Conference, Asian Awards, and General Assembly, marking the first time the nation will stage this significant event. The APC made the announcement on Thursday, with the gathering anticipated to occur in November or December 2027, though specific dates are yet to be finalized.

The selection of Tashkent followed a competitive bidding process that saw proposals from five National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) across Asia. After a vote, the majority of APC Executive Board Members and Standing Committee Chairpersons with voting rights favored the Uzbek capital.

This crucial APC assembly is expected to draw representatives from the 45 Asian National Paralympic Committees, along with APC Executive Board Members, Standing Committees, athletes, International Federations, Games Organizing Committees, and delegates from international sports organizations.

The agenda will feature the APC Conference, which will include presentations, discussions, and workshops focused on key aspects of developing the Paralympic Movement throughout Asia. Following this, the General Assembly will convene, where APC members will address critical organizational and strategic matters, as well as the future direction of the Paralympic Movement in the region. Additionally, Tashkent will host the Asian Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements and contributions to the Asian Paralympic Movement since the previous awards ceremony.

APC President Majid Rashed extended his congratulations to Uzbekistan for its successful bid. "We are delighted to confirm Tashkent as the host of the 2027 APC Conference, Asian Awards and General Assembly," Rashed stated. "I congratulate the National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan and thank all five NPCs that submitted bids to host these important events. Our Conference and General Assembly provide an important opportunity for the Asian Paralympic family to come together, share knowledge, and discuss the priorities that will shape the future of Para sport across our continent. We look forward to working closely with NPC Uzbekistan to deliver another successful and productive gathering in 2027."

Mukhtorkhon Tashkodjaev, President of the National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan and APC Vice President, expressed his gratitude for the decision: "It is a great honour for Uzbekistan and the city of Tashkent to be selected to host the 2027 APC Conference, Asian Awards and General Assembly. We sincerely thank the Asian Paralympic Committee and its members for placing their trust in us."

The previous APC Conference and General Assembly in 2025 took place in Astana, Kazakhstan, bringing together delegates from over 40 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs), regional partners, and international observers for discussions, knowledge exchange, and key decisions regarding the Movement's future development.
