Strawberries, vegetable seed production, and innovation transfer: Uzbekistan and South Korea expand agricultural cooperation

A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan held a series of negotiations in the Republic of Korea aimed at expanding agricultural cooperation, attracting investment, and transferring advanced technologies.

During the visit, meetings were held with the President of Firmmit, Sunki Park, and the head of GW International, Kim Sayong.

In negotiations with Firmmit, the parties discussed launching investment projects for growing strawberries in Uzbekistan for both domestic and foreign markets. The project involves establishing agricultural cooperatives based on the South Korean model, introducing modern agricultural technologies, and implementing professional development programs for Uzbek agronomists.

With the leadership of GW International, the Uzbek side discussed issues related to the development of vegetable seed production.

A specialized R&D center is planned to be opened on the basis of the Research Institute of Vegetables, Melons and Potatoes. The center will facilitate the transfer of innovations, specialist training, as well as the production and preparation of certified seeds for export.

The key goal of the partnership is to adapt South Korean experience to the conditions of Uzbekistan in order to increase the competitiveness of the domestic agro-industrial complex.
