Stone box-shaped graves found in Khorezm
An previously unknown ancient cemetery has been discovered in the Tuproqqal’a district of the Khorezm region. According to preliminary data, 19 stone graves, bronze artifacts, and beads were identified at the site, which is estimated to belong to the Bronze Age.

Stone-built box-shaped graves were found in the territory of the monument. In them, the bodies were buried in a crouched position, and various burial items, including bronze objects and beads, were placed next to the deceased.
Experts note that such complexes provide information about the culture, burial rites, and social perceptions of the ancient population, as well as connections between different regions.
The preliminary analysis of the burial rite and some finds showed certain similarities with burial structures identified in the Syr Darya basin of Southern Kazakhstan.
These similarities may indicate the existence of cultural ties and common traditions among the populations living in different regions of Central Asia during the Bronze Age. However, final conclusions regarding the exact period and cultural affiliation of the monument will be made after a comprehensive study of the materials.
Currently, the academy's specialists are busy with the preliminary processing and documentation of the materials collected during the expedition.
In the next stage, a detailed study of the graves, human remains, and burial equipment, as well as necessary laboratory research, is planned. The results will help clarify the date of the monument and determine its place among the Bronze Age archaeological cultures in Khorezm and adjacent regions.
