SSE Airtricity to increase gas prices by 19% from October

The annual gas bill of a typical household in the greater Belfast and west gas network areas will increase by almost £172.

SSE Airtricity, Northern Ireland's leading natural gas supplier, will raise its prices by nearly 19% starting October 1st. This adjustment will affect its 200,000 residential and small business clients.

For an average household in the greater Belfast and west gas network regions, this translates to an annual gas bill increase of approximately £172.

The company attributed the price hike to "unprecedented levels of volatility in global energy markets and higher wholesale gas prices."

Wholesale gas prices in the UK have effectively doubled since the US and Israel began their attack on Iran.
