Special services of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia liquidated a drug trafficking channel from Afghanistan

Special services of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia intercept Afghan drug trafficking channel

The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, in cooperation with the special services of Uzbekistan and Russia, has dismantled an international channel for smuggling drugs from Afghanistan.

According to Tengrinews, the supply of illicit substances was carried out via the so-called "Northern Route." During a joint coordinated operation in the Russian city of Tyumen, security forces detained two members of an international drug cartel. During a search, 30 kilograms of Afghan hashish, with an estimated black market value of around $300,000, were seized from the suspects.

The competent authorities of the Russian Federation are conducting a pre-trial investigation into this matter. The special services of the three nations continue a comprehensive set of operational and investigative measures to combat international illicit drug trafficking.
