Russian Security Council: Working closely with Afghanistan on the problem of synthetic drugs

We are working, brothers

Moscow and Kabul are jointly dealing with the problem of synthetic drugs, which have turned into a challenge for the entire world. This was stated by Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

"Law enforcement agencies and security structures are in close contact. We are working closely with the Afghans on the issue of synthetic drugs, which is becoming a growing challenge to international security," he told reporters.

According to Venediktov, "contacts with the current Afghan authorities are multifaceted in nature and are developing, including through foreign ministries, the governments of the two countries, and business circles." He recalled last week's meeting of the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan, as well as meetings in the Russian capital held by Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council also noted that "a bilateral working group on trade and economic cooperation has been formed, and the legal framework is being strengthened." Venediktov added that "economic interaction with Kabul is also important in the context of implementing transport and energy projects in the region."
