Shavkat Mirziyoyev: "The works written by our ancestor Moturidiy a thousand years ago are still relevant today"

In accordance with the resolution of the head of state, the 1155th anniversary of the birth of Abu Mansur Moturidiy was widely celebrated in Uzbekistan last year. In this regard, renovation and landscaping work had begun on the territory of the complex at the Chokardiza cemetery.

A new mosque for pilgrims was built on an area with a total size of 10.2 hectares. The mausoleums of Imam Moturidiy and Burhoniddin Marginoniy were fully reconstructed. A scientific center, a library, and a museum designed for an in-depth study of the scholar's heritage were established within the complex.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid special attention to the importance of these centers of knowledge.

– Our goal in establishing such centers of knowledge is to deeply study the heritage of our great ancestors and convey it to our youth. We need this knowledge very much today. Here, many of our young people will study the works written by our ancestor Moturidiy a thousand years ago. A thousand years ago, he substantiated every issue with deep knowledge and clear evidence, warning people against ignorance. Studying these works and conveying their essence and significance to our youth is more important today than ever before.

An entrance portal, hotels for visitors, and a parking lot were constructed at the entrance of the shrine. Seedlings of local trees and shrubs, as well as foreign ones suited to the climate of our country, were planted in the territory of the complex.

The memory of the scholars was honored, and verses from the Quran were recited.

The head of state emphasized that a person visiting the complex should gain an idea of the scientific and spiritual heritage of Imam Moturidiy and his place in the Islamic world.

– Behind the improvement of such great sacred sites lie great spirituality, enlightenment, education, and knowledge. People should come here not only to pay respect, but also to gain knowledge and understand their identity, – Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
