The meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States has begun in the city of Ankara. Speaking at the event, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev drew attention to the tourism potential of the organization's member states.
In his speech, the head of state proposed expanding the possibility of traveling between the Turkic states without an international passport, using only an ID card.
"We must also fully utilize the enormous potential in the tourism sector. In 2022 alone, more than 40 million foreign tourists visited our countries. The time has come to establish the Turkic Tourism Alliance in order to jointly present to the world the historical cities, unique nature, rich culture, and hospitality traditions of the Turkic peoples.
To make travel easier and more accessible for our population, we propose developing a multilateral agreement on mutual visits of citizens. In it, we should reflect issues of expanding travel opportunities based on ID cards, simplifying border crossing procedures, and rules of stay in the host country," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
