Shavkat Mirziyoyev Held a Meeting with Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the People's Republic of China led by Premier of the State Council Li Qiang. During the conversation, the parties reviewed issues of further strengthening the strategic partnership, expanding trade and economic cooperation, and implementing joint investment projects.

At the beginning of the meeting, Li Qiang conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from President of the PRC Xi Jinping to the head of Uzbekistan.

Particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of the agreements reached at the meeting of the leaders of the two countries in Bishkek in August this year. The parties noted the intensification of contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, relevant departments, regions, and business circles.

Uzbekistan reaffirmed its commitment to the "One China" policy and the joint fight against the "three forces of evil."

A steady positive trend in the growth of trade turnover between the two countries was noted. The portfolio of developed investment projects reached about 60 billion dollars, and the number of created joint ventures exceeded 6 thousand. In addition, the flow of Chinese tourists visiting Uzbekistan is increasing, and the exchange of experience in the field of poverty reduction continues.

The parties emphasized the need to expand practical cooperation in key sectors of the economy, including green energy, chemistry, geology, automotive industry, metallurgy, and agriculture.

Separately, issues of infrastructure modernization, the development of peaceful nuclear energy, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence, as well as cooperation in machine tool building and robotics, were touched upon.

One of the important topics of the negotiations was the construction of the strategic China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway, work on which is progressing ahead of schedule.

The launch of the transport corridor is expected to give an additional impetus to the development of regional trade, the strengthening of logistical ties, and the enhancement of transport connectivity between Central Asia and China.

During the meeting, prospects for expanding tourism, cultural, and educational exchanges were also discussed. To encourage mutual trips, plans to increase the frequency of flights between cities of Uzbekistan and China were reviewed.

In the near future, it is planned to hold the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan in China, as well as the mutual opening of cultural centers of the two countries.

The parties confirmed their interest in the further development of multilateral cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the "Central Asia – China" format, and other international structures.

The negotiations confirmed the desire of Uzbekistan and China to further deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership, expand economic ties, and implement joint initiatives in the fields of transport, industry, energy, technology, and humanitarian cooperation.
